What is French polishing?
French Polishing is a method of applying shellac to a woodworking project that creates a tough surface with a high gloss, almost mirror-like finish. Numerous layers are applied till the desired degree of depth is reached. The purpose of French polishing is to seal the timber to prevent moisture absorption. French polished timber enhances the features of timber, wears well, and holds its superior finish.
French polishing is a skilled furniture finishing technique that involves several stages including removing surface coatings, preparing surfaces for finishing, applying stains, applying surface coatings, and matching and making up colours.
What is two-pack polyurethane?
Polyurethane products are two-pack coating systems, ie they are supplied as two separate components, a base and a hardener, that react together.
Two-pack polyurethane offers excellent durability and resistance against heat and moisture. Finishes include satin, semi gloss or full gloss.
Applying two-pack polyurethane is hazardous and must be done in a spray booth with the correct safety equipment.
How many undercoats do you apply?
We apply up to six layers of undercoat to ensure long-lasting quality finish is achieved.
